fourth of july tie dye nail tutorial

in the spirit of fourth of july, i have done red, white, and blue tie dye nails with water!

1. paint a base coat on your nails, for this instance white.
2. have a few disposable cups of room temperature water on hand. with the first color, put one drop of paint on the surface of the water. it should spread out.
3. do the same with the second color.
4. keep going until you have a bulls-eye.
5-7. with a toothpick or wooden stick, draw lines in the paint and make a design for your nail.
8. dip you finger nail side down into the water on top of the design.
9. while your finger is in the water, with the wooden stick move the excess polish around your nail away so that it wont get on the nail.
10. this is what your nails should look like when you take them out of the water.
11-12. clean with a brush and acetone!

tape checkered nail tutorial

this is my try at the tape nails!

1. paint a base coat and let dry before you go to sleep. make sure you have one night between step one and the rest because the base coat needs to be dry!
2. tape off where you want the base coat to show. i used painters tape instead of scotch tape which worked really well for me.
3. paint your first top color. try to pick colors that will stand out from the base color.
4. paint the second top color.
5. take off the tape and touch up if needed. finish off with a clear top coat!

diy wall decoration tutorial

as i was getting settled into my new apartment, i decided that the living room needs decorations. i was inspired by both pinterest and my stepmom to do these fun fabric wall pieces!

1. on a large piece of cardboard, draw different sized shapes. i traced different rectangular items around the house to do this.
2. cut the shapes out.
3. get different fabrics. i had a color theme of black, white, brown, and green. Joann has a great selection of little samples of fabric if you don't have any fabric at home.
4. with a hot glue gun, start folding the fabric over the cardboard and glue. cut extra fabric, it gets to be too much depending on the size of the cardboard piece.
5. this is what each piece will look like when finished.
6. before hanging the pieces on the wall, make a rough design of how you want the pieces to fit together. this helps so that you will get an idea of how you want the final product to look.
7. the final product does not have to be exactly like the draft!
8. you're all set to go!

1. paint a dark base coat. it will make the neon colors pop.
2. paint the first line in the middle. this will let you get the design centered.
3. add the outer colored stripes. this helps get spacing as well because you can make sure to get color #3 in there.
4. finish with the middle lines!
