neon star burst nail tutorial

here is a simple tutorial that is fun for summer!

1. paint a dark base coat. it will make the neon colors pop.
2. paint the first line in the middle. this will let you get the design centered.
3. add the outer colored stripes. this helps get spacing as well because you can make sure to get color #3 in there.
4. finish with the middle lines!

plastic bag nail tutorial

as everything is finally starting to look like spring, i love all of the flowers everywhere! there aren't may around Fort Collins, but these are especially pretty. as i was taking pictures, i got inspired for a nail tutorial with a new method.

this is a different way of doing nails, it is sort of like creating nail stickers.

1. turn a zip lock bag inside out. liberally trace your nails and then flip it right side out. then, paint a thick layer of base coat over a nail. this will come in handy when you feel the while thing off.
2. over the base coat, start painting your design. for this, i painted the outlines to an abstract design.
3-6. fill in the design. paint two coats of each color.
7. with tweezers, peel off the polish. be careful, it can rip!!

8. trim the outside of the sticker. paint a think layer of base coat on your nail and press the sticker on to your nail.
9. trim more excess off of the nail.
10. clean up the last of the excess and cover with a top coat!

zig zag nail tutorial

this is my first nail tutorial! i'm excited to create more of these!

1. paint the base coat. i chose a more neutral color as a starter.
2. paint dots where you want the highs and lows of the lines to be. use a toothpick or wooden stick do do this.
3. with the stick, connect the dots.
4. use the next color and paint the rest of the nail above the line.
5. repeat steps 2 and 3 to create another zig zag.
6. paint the last color and there you go!!

let me know what you think!!

new beginnings.

as my first year on school comes to an end, i am really excited for a new adventure.

i am disappointed that this school year at Colorado State University didn't work out. all of the expectations of college seem to be allusions: a great group of friends, wonderful classes, and a home away from home.  as the year went on, i got lonelier and lonelier.

even though CSU didn't turn out like it was supposed to, a few positive things came out of it:

one of the only things that got me through it was my boyfriend, nick. he was someone i could always turn to when the loneliness got to me. he was also someone i had a great time laughing with, getting through classes, and just hanging out and enjoying each other.

also, i am happy that i finally found what i want to do with my career. i have always been good with kids, and have babysat for what seems like forever. it finally only made sense to choose to work with kids. i'm actually really excited for this, and i really think it will work out.

as it was my official last day of freshman classes, i will be moving out soon and i'm excited to see what the future holds!
